Dr. Jessica Gamauf attended Purdue University with a major in Biology. After 3 years of her undergraduate studies she was accepted a year early into the veterinary program at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary medicine.
She graduated in 2004 with her doctorate, moved to Navarre with her husband, who was stationed at Hurlburt Field AFB, and quickly made Wynn Haven Animal Hospital her new home. She has had to leave to practice in Texas and elsewhere in Florida over the years before finally returning to her original family here at Wynn Haven Animal Hospital in 2022.
Dr. Jessie enjoys soft tissue surgery and the satisfaction she gets from being able to use her hands to heal. But her biggest joy in being a veterinarian is celebrating the profound strength of the human-animal bond. With each pet she cares for she feels like she becomes a small part of their family. Her passion has become end-of-life care. Helping our fur babies cross the rainbow bridge peacefully and surrounded by those that love them is truly an honor for her. Supporting the families through those difficult moments, helping them to find peace and celebrate the beautiful life their fur babies had on this earth are the most rewarding moments in her career.
Good luck trying to find her when she is not in the hospital. With 3 kids in competitive sports she is a hard person to track down and is usually crisscrossing the Southeast with gymnastics and soccer travel. Her husband retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service and is now flying for UPS. The three kids, menagerie of dogs, cats and lizards are quite content being Florida born and raised so it seems she is finally here to stay.
